Inklings is free to use, and stays free for the part that matters most.
Free, and not a trial
Everything to do with the work itself, without limit. Write as many books as you like, keep every draft and version, cut snippets from any of them, and read and critique as much as anyone sends you. Line notes, critiques and quills are never rationed, friendships never end on their own, and no critique written on your pages — or on anyone else’s by you — is ever locked away.
That last part is the point. Putting a meter on critique would punish the writer waiting for it, who never chose your plan. So the limits are only ever about reach: a free account keeps one book open to matching at a time — changeable every 30 days, with the rest of the shelf still fully writable — and spends up to 5 inklings a day. Passing is unlimited.
What a subscription adds
- Your whole shelf, open. Every book in the deck at once, and pages sendable from any of them. You are matched as a writer rather than as a manuscript, so each open book widens who you reach instead of competing for a slot.
- No daily limit. Work through the deck at whatever pace suits you.
- See who’s already said yes. The names behind the number, so you know who is waiting on a decision from you.
- Take back a swipe. For the ones that were a slip of the thumb.
Cancelling keeps everything you have written and everything written for you. Your friends, threads and critiques are untouched — you are asked only to choose which book stays open to matching. See the terms.
